Bye Bye Germany

Bye Bye Germany

Es war einmal in Deutschland (Original title)

The well-known German actor Moritz Bleibtreu has already been in Görlitz to produce the film “Goethe!“. But during the shooting of “Bye Bye Germany“, he got to know new places in the film city. The former Totschek Department Store in Steinstrasse, for example, was turned into a “real” department store again: with beautifully decorated showcases and window displays. It was almost a pity to deconstruct everything after the production. Further scenes were shot, for instance, in the streets Emmerichstrasse and James-von-Moltke-Strasse.

Story

The comedy by director Sam Garbarski plays in Frankfurt in 1946. David Bermann (Moritz Bleibtreu) and his friends have only one thing in mind: to get out of the reception camp and set off for America! With Chuzpe and absurd tricks, the Jews sell linen goods to the Germans at their doors in order to be able to pay for their expensive trip out as soon as possible. But clever and beautiful, but adamant American female officer and Nazi hunter Sara Simon (Antje Traue) is digging into David’s past.
